Cocktails

Do you like Pina Coladas?

getting caught in the rain???

20800317_1774107415952295_7363737171604193043_n

Sorry getting a bit carried away with my very out of tune singing voice..

So, as you might have guessed, my latest cocktail is a Pina Colada.  And, even though I say so myself, it is totally my favourite and even surpassed my Screaming Orgasm Recipe.

Firstly take note of the ingredients needed, and when you read pineapple juice, don’t run to Tesco and quickly pick up apple juice, then make it with apple juice and wonder why it tastes horrid.  I have no idea who would actually be that stupid… cough cough…

Oh, and if you are on a diet, just forget the calories and enjoy, that’s what I did and the moment on the lips was well worth the lifetime on the hips in my, not so humble opinion.

So, I digress.

The ingredients are as follows:
Pineapple Juice 150ml
White Rum – I used Tesco’s own 100ml
Coconut Milk (this is in a tin) 50ml
Vanilla Ice Cream 4 scoops
Whipping Cream 100ml
Sugar – 1 tablespoon spoon
Ice – Handful
Squirty Cream in a Can
Cherry

Now I started with the amounts shown above, but I suggest you to add these in stages and do it to your own taste and consistency.

Equipment Needed:
Measuring Jug
Blender
Electric Whisk
Mixing Bowl

Luxuries needed
Personalised Glitter Pina Colada Glass

Method
Put most of the ingredients in the blender, keeping some back to add gradually.  I actually only put a small amount of ice cream at the beginning and added most at the end to thicken the mixture.

Whisk the whipping cream in a bowl until it is white and stiff as shown and then spoon into the blender with the other ingredients.

Put the blender on for a few minutes and don’t be tempted to stop too soon, I found this helps with thickening the mixture and getting a frothy finish.

20841034_1774107465952290_1102481682253068070_n

I tasted it at this point and added in the rest of the ingredients.  If you decide you want it to be stronger, sweeter or thicker you can increase or decrease the final amounts to suit your personal taste.

Put the ice in a tall glass, preferable a tall one as shown, and pour the mixture over.  Squirt cream on the top of the mixture and add a cherry for decoration…

Then, put your cocktail dress on… and enjoy in the comfort of your front room.

Cocktails

When life gives ya lemons….

and some vodka, strawberries and ice…

Make A Vodka Strawberry and Lemonade Cocktail..

So, because I am on an eternal diet, I thought I would try a cocktail that was purely vodka based.. (because vodka is the best alcohol on all 5467 diets I have done) and the added fruit just made me feel more smug about the whole thing.

Untitled design (20)

Now this cocktail has a strong taste I’m not going to lie, but the mixutre of lemon, strawberry and  vodka gives a kick to let you know you’re drinking and a really sweet after taste.

I liked it!!

And, I am sure you will too.  And, it is also quite satisfying that you have to make your own strawberry syrup so you get to feel a bit ‘Mary Berry’ in the process.  Overall I really enjoyed making it.

Untitled design (22)

Oh, before you start I found my cup measuring device really helpful with this recipe.  And I would have found a lemon squeezer helpful, but in the absence of that, a husband or teenage son make an adequate substitute, as long as said husband doesn’t have paper cuts everywhere… steps in son Charlie to save the day (because quite simply my arms don’t work but that’s another story for another day).  Anyway suffice it to say a lemon squeezer is on my list of things to buy.

Equipment Needed:
Blender
Pan
Sieve
Lemon Squeezer
Cup Measuring Device

To make the actual drink: (makes aboout 4 glasses)
1 punnet of strawberries
1 Cup Vodka
8 Lemons
1 Cup of Sugar
1 Cup Water
1 Punnet of Stawberries

Preperations
Cut all tops off strawberries
Prepare your glass
Cut lemons and strawberries for garnish
Cut lemons in half for squeezing

Preparing the Glass
Rim the glass with some lemon and then dip the glass in sugar so that it sticks as shown in the picture.

Untitled design (25) Untitled design (26)

Method
Put the sugar, strawberries and water in a pan and bring to a simmer for a few minutes until the sugar has completely dissolved.

Untitled design (23)  Untitled design (24)

Put the mixture in the blender and blend until smooth then pour the mixture through a sieve to get it nice and smooth.

Put the jug in the fridge until it’s nice and cool.

Add the vodka, lemonade and lemon to the mixture and mix well.

Untitled design (27)

Put some ice into your glitter cocktail glass from  The Cheeky Cow   and pour the mixture over.

Oh and finally sip it, it is potent by the way but it gives a great kick.

Screaming Orgasm – The Sequel

Here’s the thing, it is all well and good me telling you to create full on cocktails for everyone at the party, but sometimes the budget wont stretch… which is totally understandable after you have bought all the food, the gazebo in case it rains and all that extra beer for those that don’t bring any!

So, I tried the shot version and honestly, I think that it will impress just as much, if not more.  You can pick up shot glasses fairly cheap from the local supermarket, or if you want super posh ones, you can get them personalised from The Cheeky Cow .  I envisage a tray full of these ready for when the party starts, but I would do them just before they arrive or the cream will fall into the rest of the cocktail and you will lose the impact.  You could even do them half way through the party, they really don’t take long.

Untitled design (25)

These cocktail shots can be done on a budget for sure, using a cheap vodka, even a cheap baileys substitute but below I have written out the recipe I used.

What you will need:
Cocktail Shaker
Silver Measuring Cup

Untitled design (27)

Recipe for One Shot
1 oz Vodka
1 oz Baileys
1 oz Tia Maria
1 oz Coffee Liqeur
1 x Strawberry
Squirty Cream in a Can
Flake chocolate or normal chocolate grated

Method
Put the vodka, baileys, tia maria and coffee liqueur in the shaker with some ice to make it cold.  Give it a shake for a good few minutes to ensure all alcohol is mixed well.

Pour the shaken cocktail mixutre into a shot glass.

Squirt the cream on top of the shot, sprinkle flake on top and cut a strawberry in half and put it on the side of the glass.

Untitled design (25)

And that my friends is all there is too it..

Do you want this recipe and method emailing to you in a printable PDF format?

Sign up to the blog (scroll down if you are on a phone or to the right if you are a desktop junky like me). I will send the pdf out to you and you will be alerted once a week when I try a new recipe or party idea.  I will never bombard you… that’s a promise.

You could make this cocktail shot glass recipe as an entree for your party, or maybe a great start to a hen do or a girls night out?

The possibilities are endless, but one thing’s for sure, If I was served this by a friend at a party, I would be impressed wouldn’t you?  And I would tell others about the quirky gimmick…

If you try it and like it, or try it and hate it, or might try it someday, leave the comment below.  I love to hear from real life actual people.

Anyway, until then… thanks for reading.

Ever wanted a screaming orgasm?

How to Make a Screaming Orgasm

Here I show you how to make a screaming orgasm in your own kitchen… Well my take on it, I added a couple of ingredients to enhance both the flavour and the texture. I include the screaming orgasm recipe, the method of how you make the cocktail and also a few extras that I found made it better.

I personally think that having a cocktail at a house party really does make it memorable… or not memorable depending on how many obviously.  You can still have the fridge full of Stella and Bud and the wine rack full of Prosecco and Red Merlot but a cocktail, just like a few quirky food bits, just makes your party remembered!

Untitled design (20)

What you will need for 1 cocktail:

Tia Maria 20ml
Vodka 30ml
Coffee Liquer 20ml
Baileys 30ml
Ice
30ml Milk
1 scoop of vanilla ice cream

I used branded alcohol but to be honest, I would certainly use the cheaper versions if you are on a budget, I really think the taste would be very similar.

Untitled design (22)

To Decorate:
Flake
Strawberry or Cherry
Paper parrot or other sparkly type of stick thing (amazon, search cocktail accessories)
Straws

To Make it:
Cocktail shaker and bits.  I got mine from Asda for £14.
Fancy glass – I used one that I made over at The Cheeky Cow, stocked in our shop and available for purchase.
Click here for personalised cocktail glasses

How to decorate the rim of the glass with chocolate
I used water to wet the edge of the glass as shown below, and dipped it in crumbled flake. I did roll it round a few times to get an even edging. I think it worked well.

Untitled design (24) Untitled design (21).png

What to do.
Put all the alcohol into the cocktail maker with ice, and give it a really good shake, vigorously.    Add the milk and the ice cream (I used plain vanilla), and once again give a shake.

Untitled design (23)

Put the strainer on the top of the shaker and pour the cocktail into the glass.  Split the strawberry with a knife and slot onto the top of the glass.  Add the sparkly bits, a couple of straws and bobs your uncle.. You have yourself your very own screaming orgasm.

So that is it…

Obviously I enjoyed it, so did my husband too… My son had a sip and even he liked it too!

Would you like to try it?  If you would like the recipe to print off and keep, please subscribe to the blog at the side menu to the right and I will send you all new recipes in easy pdf form.

And, may I say thank you if you made it this far…. I am blushing really!

If you have any questions about my methods which I try to keep as simple as possible, or have tried it and want to tell my other readers about it, please do. I don’t want to feel like I am talking to myself..

Thanks again..

Paula 🙂

Introductions

Everyone needs a sprinkle of glitter…

Sparkle is a girl’s best friend right?

The Cheeky Cow thinks so… and so do I!

Before I introduce other bloggers, event organisation, other skilled craftsman and women in future blogs, I thought it would be prudent to tell you all where I am up to in my own business, how I got to this stage and where I am moving it forward to.

I have two passions now, funny cards being one and personalised glitter glasses being the other.  And while I think I have honed the designs into near perfection now, let me tell you, my first designs were something else altogether.  I am just glad I have a self critical eye is all I can say.  Don’t worry though, none of the early stuff ever made it to a customer’s house, just in my bin…. and lots of them!

After two years of hard slog, endless research, heavy investment in the right equipment and a bit of imagination I came up with The Cheeky Cow’s glass collections and it grows as each new season is thrust upon us.  The most recent is Father’s Day and it has seen the sale of various funny cards (my stepdad card was and is the most popular), and funny and personalised dad pint glasses have gone down a treat too.  I am currently in the middle of wedding season and brides are lurrvving the wedding glitter glasses… I could cry with excitement really!!

So basically our product is a glass (wine glass, champagne etc) of your choice, with the stem decorated with glitter (16 colour choices cough cough…).  And on top of that feature we have added a trim of diamante and  various slogans and phrases along with the drinkers’ name.   We do pint glasses too for the men of course, we like to keep everyone happy.  Our promise is to get the glass out within 3 working days, and to have a no quibble return policy, regardless of any reason and both our customer service and quality are shining through as the orders come pouring in.

By the way, this blog is not designed to be a direct sales pitch.. although if you do want to buy I am not going to tackle you to the ground, this is just so you get to know a bit about what I do every day.

il_570xN.1208414746_6nqz

Anyway, sorry for the ‘all about me’ post, but I thought it was important.  My next one will be much more interesting… I promise honestly!!

So till then
